A week of highs and lows

My newly-published Connected Leadership book arrived in the Cirrus office on Tuesday this week. It was a great moment and the fulfilment of a lifelong ambition. There are many people who have helped me get it written and published - thank you for your patience and support.

And tomorrow we are going to my sister’s funeral. Thank you to everyone for your kind words and to the people who have put up with me over the last few weeks. It has been a devastating experience for my whole family and we will gather tomorrow to celebrate her short but wonderful life.

At times like this I wonder what's really important. Clearly some things are more important than others. Family and friends take priority. I believe that what we do at Cirrus as a business is also pretty important - better leaders do cause better lives.

The thing that links these two events this week together is the written word. The book is my way of having what I hope will be in some way a positive influence on the business world. And tomorrow I will be reading a small piece I wrote about my sister on a recent trip back to the UK from Australia. While I was in the air I had time to think and to start to come to terms with the fact that my sister was no longer with us. Through writing I found a form of expression for how I felt and to help describe her in an appreciative way.
